As a theatre company, we will use educational community theatre to deal with issues that affect young people within our communities. To do this we aim to use theatre as an alternative form of education to inform young people of issues that they may face in life.
Drama can be used as a powerful medium to explore issues within a community, and the impact it has on people’s lives. We believe we can successfully challenge young members of the community and educate them on issues such as bullying, drugs and alcohol misuse, sexual health, crime and anti-social behaviour.
Through workshops, performances and forum groups we aim –
- To create inter-cultural performances and education programmes that effect diverse groups of young people.
- To encourage community involvement in the performing arts.
- To develop and build a community based, community operated performing arts group accessible to all ages and backgrounds.
- To generate self-esteem by allowing young people to take risks and release potential creativity.
- To empower the individual within the context of an ensemble.
